VCMP at OWH Challenge #4

Sweeeet! Challenge #4 is a tutorial I'd been meaning to try but hadn't had the guts. It's called Triple Time Stamping and it's brought to us by Donna at Donna inks. It's also called Pyramid stamping at OWH.

I love love love my autumn leaf stamps so I used them for this card. I also did some masking to fit a few extra leaves in there, but I'm not sure it was necessary. Perhaps less was more in this case. The squirrel is from a swap; thanks Ann! Another kit done; that makes 7 at 4-5 cards per kit so far! Whoo Hoo!

VCMP at OWH Challenge #3

Still going, whew! Challenge #3 is for "snowflakes, but not Christmas" cards. And, of course, I started kicking myself for saying I would bring out the Cricut today. (I've got a few great snowflakes on my carts). I do have some nice snowflake DP and a mini punch, though, so here's what I came up with....

Sketch #18

I (finally) remembered to ink the edges - it's such a simple but powerful accent and I'm always forgetting. I don't have any wintery stamps that don't imply Christmas, so I made a kit of love themed cards for this challenge. Aww!

Thanks for visiting and happy surfing!

VCMP at OWH Challenge #2

Hi again! OWH's VCMP Challenge #2 is a "recipe." Hmm, looks like a recipe challenge is a mix of elements, not a theme or specific kind of a specific kind of element. Cherie tells us to use 2 kinds of DP, 1 image, and three words. This was a bit of a challenge because when I think sentiment + image, I get nervous and run straight to the safety of my coffee stamp set. But I'm also challenging myself to day to not do any extensive stamping or Cricut cutting. I recently bulked myself up on pre-stamped and pre-cut stuff and this weekend is a great way to start using them. "Ok, ok, blah, blah, blah, so where's the card, Rachel?" Oh, sorry! Here you go!

Sketch #115

The orange layer on the leaf is DP, I promise! I started out with red polka dots to go with the striped paper but tossed it when I came across these leaves, which match the orange and cream tone of the stripes perfectly. I was thinking about running the blue paper through the Cuttlebug but found myself layering it with the red before I made a final decision, haha. This is a part of a kit of four... should I emboss the other three? I have a swirly folder and a stripe folder. Hmm, I'm thinking it's better without because the rest of the card is busy enough. I'd appreciate suggestions, though!

See ya later :)

This weekend at OWH there is a Virtual Card Making Party, and every few hours a link to creative challenge is posted for participating card makers. Our first challenge also serves as the Our Daily Bread Challenge for the month of September. The mission is to make an encouraging card. Here's mine:

OWH Sketch #62

It's pretty simple, but I like it. Funny little story: I originally was only planning on the white layer under the sentiment, but as I put it together, I realized that wouldn't do the good that layers do because of the white card front. So I had to dig for paper that would match the soft blue green of the DP from DCWV's Green Stack. Yikes! At the bottom of the drawer I found a pad of 8x8 Cardstock Stack from DCWV that my gramma had in the box of supplies she'd given me ... three years ago! I can't tell you how psyched that made me. Thanks again, Grandma! And thanks to DCWV for reusing their colors from pad to pad and year to year. Whew ;)

I made a 'lil card kit of 3 more for this. My birthday is coming up, as well as OWH's, and Sandy is asking for at least one card making party host per state in the month of September. Since my party days are over (my friends and I didn't even celebrate it last year), I decided this would be a good way to get some help from non-crafters. I am representing New York, whoo hoo! So far I have 4 kits. Gonna have to get tape-runners in the coming week.

I will be creating new posts for each challenge this weekend... figure it's easier for all the inlinking that'll be going on.

Thanks for visiting and have a great VCMP!
